Pastor, Mission Church of the Living God in Christ
Presiding Bishop, Mission Church Ministries
Elder Robert M Jones, Sr.
Bishop Robert M. Jones was born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1958. He is the second of eight children. His parents Albert and Margaret Williams relocated to Springfield, MA when he was 4 years old. At the age of 15, The Lord drew him to Mission Church of the Living God in Christ, which at the time was under the leadership of its founder, Overseer Pastor Rendia Collier. As a young man he knew God had a calling on his life. He held various positions in the church organization such as: Youth Sunday School teacher, YPWW Leader, Choir Director, Musician, Junior Deacon, Deacon, Church Treasurer, as well as Minister.
In July of 1979, at the age of 20, he married his beautiful wife, Elder Kathi J. Jones. Together they have 3 children: Robert (Mikee) Jones Jr., Kathesia M. Jones, and Matthew C. Jones. Both Kathesia and Matthew have confessed salvation and have acknowledged their personal callings as Ministers of the Gospel. They also have 4 grand-children.
In 1987, a few years after Pastor Collier ("Sister") went home to be with The Lord, Mission Church moved their location to worship with their sister church Mt. Zion Church of the Living God in Christ, which resides in East Windsor, CT. On February 14, 1988, Minister Robert Jones was ordained Elder and Pastor of Mission Church. The church remained in East Windsor for 14 more years. During this time, the Lord spiritually prepared and equipped Bishop Jones, under the leadership of Bishop Jesse Barber and Pastor Ethel Barber. Bishop Jones identifies these two individuals as having a tremendous spiritual leadership impact on his life. Bishop testifies, “They always put the work of the Lord first and taught you the Word of God with an anointing that made you thirst for more. They also kept you on the altar until you understood your purpose. I must admit I was overwhelmed by the tenderness, kindness, and love that was exhibited to me and the rest of the Mission Church family."
In the secular business world the Lord had a plan for his life, and provided him with business knowledge and corporate leadership skills. God brought him from a part-time kitchen worker in 1978, to the position of 2nd Vice President in 1997 within the Customer Service Division at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, a fortune 500 company located in Springfield MA. He has twenty-four years of experience in the Life Insurance Industry. He is a proven seasoned senior manager of customer service, with fifteen years of hands on, front line customer experience. He developed a wide range of management skills supervising small groups, front-line managers, and director level managers. He also has a strong technical background in reviewing workflow processes and developing new solutions to improve quality and customer service. Furthermore, he has over 10 years of demonstrated project management experience on several key companywide initiatives. Bishop Jones earned various letters of accommodations and recognition awards during this phase of life in the business community.
While Bishop Jones was excited about the opportunities and challenges of his position in Insurance, he did not feel that he was accomplishing the things necessary for building the kingdom of God and completing the tasks the Lord had assigned to him. In 2001, The Lord then showed Bishop Jones an open vision, out of which he was commissioned to bring Mission Church back to Springfield, MA. In December 2001, Bishop Jones parted with his secular job affording him the time to concentrate on renovating the church in Springfield on a full-time basis. The Lord took a business man and made him a carpenter. By means of his own physical labor, and with the help of just a few others, Mission Church was renovated within 1 year. In early 2003, Mission Church held the Grand Opening of its new building. Bishop Jones now operates in his new trade performing home improvement work. Many homes and churches have been blessed by the labor of Gods messenger.
Under his leadership, simply by word of mouth the ministry has grown tremendously. He teaches with simplicity and common sense, while practicing love and commitment to God and man. Bishop Jones continues to move the church in a direction that reaches out into the community to shoulder up individuals in need. The Lord has given him a vision that he is supposed to stand and call. As a result, souls will be drawn to him so that they can be saved, delivered and set free through the blood of Jesus; not only cleaning them out, but filling them with the gift of the Holy Ghost.
On February 26, 2011 Pastor Jones was consecrated and elevated to the office of Bishop. He now serves as the Presiding Bishop of Mission Church Ministries, an extension of Mission Church of the Living God in Christ. Affiliate members include Holy Ghost Revival Outreach Ministries - Shirley, MA; Holy Tabernacle Church for all People – Holyoke, MA; Living Water Church – Springfield, MA; and Restoration Church of Worship - Hartford, CT. These ministries have joined together in Covenant Partnership under the leadership of Bishop Jones. As it has been prophesied, “The best is yet to come.” All glory to the Lord Jesus.
